Central Hobart Precincts Plan
The purpose of the Central Hobart Precincts Plan project is to guide future growth in a way that will strengthen what’s great about Hobart and build on its position as a vibrant, liveable and connected city. It will provide a blueprint for development, investment and infrastructure over the next 20 years.
The Precincts Plan area includes 64 blocks bounded by Davey Street to the south, Burnett Street to the north, the Brooker Highway to the east, and Molle and Harrington Streets to the west.
While the project commenced in March 2020 with community engagement on a baseline study, it was interrupted by COVID-19. The project recommenced in early 2021, with an update to the background studies that assessed the economic impact of COVID for the study area.
The next stage of work includes the release of a Discussion Paper in late 2021 for broad engagement followed by further consultation on a draft Precincts Plan in early 2022. The Plan will be finalised in mid-2022.
