Kingston Congestion Package
Preliminary works for the Firthside park and ride site started in January 2021. This work will widen the footpath on Groningen Road to create safer access for pedestrians, upgrade the bus shelter and create a pedestrian refuge island to improve crossing safety. This will also involve construction of a new footpath at the existing bus shelter site in Browns Road. When complete, the existing bus services will remain unchanged, however access to the bus stops will be greatly improved.
The Tasmanian Government has committed $6.75 million towards developing park and ride facilities at Firthside and Huntingfield, as part of the Kingston Congestion Package.
