Supporting Greater Hobart to be a Smart City
The Smart Cities Working Group representing the three levels of government, is developing three priority projects, which will drive collaboration and support the digital transformation of Greater Hobart:
- The Greater Hobart Councils are jointly funding the development of a prospectus, which will outline the business case for a Greater Hobart Digital Twin to integrate and render common spatial and operational data to deliver real time 3D digital amalgamation across Clarence, Glenorchy, Hobart and Kingborough Councils.
- A second project within the prospectus will outline a proof of concept for digital bus shelters to support modal shift to public transport at anchor sites across Greater Hobart.
- The third project will see the Working Group develop a separate Greater Hobart Smart Precincts Strategy. The strategy will outline a blueprint to allow the four Greater Hobart Councils to adopt common smart city solutions across four key pillars – Data, Transport, Utilities and Communications – in order to future proof the region one precinct at a time.
It is anticipated that the prospectus and the strategy will be developed by February 2021.
