We will enhance our international connections by establishing Border Services and an Australian Federal Police presence at the Hobart Airport to support international flights when they commence. This will support international tourism and provide Tasmanian businesses with greater access to international markets.
Gateway to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean
We will continue our work to establish the Antarctic and Science Precinct at Macquarie Point, which will support activation of the site and enhance Hobart’s position as a gateway to the Antarctic and Southern Ocean.
Greater Hobart Transport Vision
We will deliver an integrated and collaborative approach to transport management and continue to invest in a reliable, sustainable and cost effective transport system, supporting active transport and improving the efficiency of private car travel.
Affordable housing and urban renewal
We will encourage and invest in a more accessible and diverse housing mix to drive urban renewal and improve housing affordability.
Activating the Northern Suburbs Transit Corridor
We will support the activation of the Northern Suburbs Transit Corridor through transit-oriented development that prioritises urban renewal and improves housing supply, affordability and diversity.
A smart, liveable and investment ready city
We will progress initiatives that will support us to be a smart, liveable and investment ready city, including collaborating with the University of Tasmania as it progresses the relocation of its southern campus into the CBD and investing our cultural, arts and investment opportunities.
Strategic collaboration and governance
We will establish a Greater Hobart Act to provide a framework to drive collaboration between the Clarence, Glenorchy, Hobart and Kingborough councils and the Tasmanian Government to encourage strategic decision making across the region.
